Position: Social Worker
Location: Floor 2, Macclesfield Town Hall, SK10 1EA
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 4+ Months
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 30.46 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities
Undertake assessments of children and families in line with statutory requirements
Develop, implement, and review care plans to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
Carry out child protection investigations and Section 47 enquiries where required
Manage a caseload of children and families, ensuring timely and accurate case recording
Work collaboratively with partner agencies including health, education, and police services
Attend and contribute to meetings such as child protection conferences and court proceedings
Ensure all interventions are compliant with relevant legislation, guidance, and local procedures
Provide clear written reports and maintain up-to-date case records
Support children in care, including care planning, reviews, and permanency planning
Person Specification
Must-Have Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England
Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Proven experience in child protection and safeguarding work
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance
Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
Enhanced DBS clearance (including Children’s and Adults Barred Lists)
Full right to work in the UK
Valid driving licence
Two satisfactory practice-based references
Nice-to-Have Requirements
Experience working within a local authority children’s services team
Familiarity with Cheshire East Council procedures or similar authority systems
Experience of court work and preparing legal documentation
Ability to support multi-agency planning and decision-making
